Hit or Mrs. – The perfect cardi for summer

I have actually seen this cardigan on 3 random people in 3 different colors & worn 3 different ways….which has me convinced that this is the perfect cardigan for summer. Maybe you would call this a bolero, but either way it’s essential to any summer wardrobe!

So this is too exciting not to share. I have been featured on the cover of the August issue of Good Housekeeping! I am so excited about it & thrilled to share my story.

Leggings?

I absolutely love this dress! Unfortunately the cut is a little short for my comfort level (especially in the office). I know the Capri leggings were “so last season” but am not sure how else I could pull off wearing this dress in public.

I would love to hear what you think about Capri leggings under dresses…

Inspired by feathers…

We posted a few weeks ago about feather extensions (if you haven’t voted do it here). Angela has a great combination of several colors & patterns & felt inspired to put together an outfit around them. I love the idea of taking inspiration from something you may not typically. Have you ever picked your jewelry, barrette or shoes first? It’s a refreshing way to coordinate an outfit & I highly recommend trying it if you haven’t.

Angela is on vacation so I can’t give full credit for all her pieces, but do know that the ring is from one of her favorite designers & we will be showcasing them in a future post.

My Summertime Favorite

So this dress is about 4 years old, but I still love it. Every summer I pull it out of “storage” (Rubbermaid containers in my laundry room) & it still looks great.

What I didn’t know about Macy’s

So, I’ll start by stating that I am NOT being compensated by Macy’s for any of this. As you may have read in a previous post, I attended a “Dress for Success” event sponsored by Macy’s. We learned some great things about how to get the most out of key pieces in your wardrobe, but there were a two things that I found out that I am compelled to share!

1. You can schedule an appointment with them. I’ve always loved getting my one-on-one time with my favorite Nordstrom associate & felt it was a special service provided at a higher quality retailer. Now Macy’s offers that same attention & I am thrilled at the idea of making an appointment at my local store.
2. You can bring your clothing pieces into the store. Now I know this is probably not news to you & I may be stating the obvious, but it wasn’t until it was blatantly stated that I really got this. Do you have a hard to match shirt? One-piece of a 2-piece suit? Shoes in some less-than-common shade of green? Bring it into the store. It’s so much easier find the complimentary piece when you have it in front of you!

Not so Nautical…

So I originally bought this top to pair with the not-quite-popular red Zara pant. It just doesn’t work together so I set off to find a great look for this now stray top.

I had really hoped for lighter colored denim, but only own skinny jean in dark washes. I’ve got this great rope bracelet in read & my favorite red shoe which seems to be just enough color to keep this professional. Now the outfit looks less than nautical which is what I started after, but I like the colors & shape.

• Zara navy/white striped top
• Jolt Skinny jeans (Nordstrom)
• Joan & David red pump (Nordstrom)

This is Nurit, soon to be first time mom and maternal fashionista. Nurit is due any day now but still finds time to put together cute outfits.

The soft floral print is perfect for spring/summer, worn with metallic gladiator sandals and a simple cardigan, this outfit is perfect for daytime. The black lace trim and racer-back detail give it just enough edge that when paired with heels would also make this a perfect dress to go out at night.

Red Pants Part Deux

I know some of you were hoping that your “no!” votes would mean you would never have to see these pants again, but here we are. I love them and am determined to find a great look that makes everyone happy.

I decided to go a little more summer friendly this time & updated my look with a fun hair style.

• Salt Water Sandals (yes they still make them)

What should I wear?

So let’s just say I have an event to go to which has a very strict dress code that states I must wear something described as “hip”, “upscale”, & in “spring colors”.

I’ve picked out 2 outfits & need your help deciding which to wear.
